Bobcats: The Wildcats Next Door is part of our 2021 Walking Ecology series, a hybrid-program including a zoom lecture followed by a chance to visit Sedgwick Reserve. Zoom lectures are free. They will be recorded and shared for those unable to attend. Hikes are $20 per person, 13 and under are free. Space is limited. Registration is required.

About the speaker: Dr. Caroline Williams is an Associate Professor in the Department of Integrative Biology at University of California, Berkeley. While the focus of this talk is on the crickets of Sedgwick, the focus of her broader research program is on the biological impacts of winter climate change. Caroline's research combines field-based natural history and experiments with laboratory-based biochemistry and physiology. She uses the UC Natural Reserves, including Sedgwick Reserve, extensively for collecting scientific data in the field and training the next generation of students in field sampling techniques.

About our speaker: Jen Hunter, director of UC Berkeley's Hastings Natural History Reserve, unabashedly loves skunks. After receiving a PhD in Ecology from the University of California at Davis, Jen has traveled the world to study cheetahs, leopards, black and white ruffed lemurs, bottlenose dolphins and other colorful creatures. Find out why she reveres striped skunks the most!
